Title: From “Appearance” to “Content”: A Discussion on Writing Research Papers in Mathematics Education
Abstract: Based on the speaker’s experience as an editor for the “the monthly journal of high school mathematics” at Soochow University and their background in mathematics education, this discussion aims to guide undergraduate and graduate students aspiring to publish papers in mathematics education. Key topics include: why are papers often rejected? What are the characteristics of an ideal paper? What are the crucial factors for content quality? Papers favored by editors not only need to be visually appealing (well-structured) but also substantively rich (in-depth research). Additionally, the speaker will take this opportunity to offer advice to students interested in applying to the Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences at Soochow University.
