In 2012 the Postdoctoral Research Station for Mathematics of Yangzhou University was approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. Doctoral programs are offered in Mathematics, which was listed as a key Category I discipline during the 12th Five-Year Plan of Jiangsu Province. The two mathematical programs (Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science) are key provincial-level ones. Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (Teaching Oriented), a provincial-level key program, has been listed among Programs with Distinctive Features at the National Level. Information and Computing Science is a key program at school level.

　　The major of Mathematics of YZU was first established in 1952. After over 60 years of development, five major areas of research with distinctive features have been developed, which are Algebra, Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations and their applications, Nonlinear Functional Analysis and its applications in control, Differential Geometry and Mathematical Physics, as well as Mathematical Theory and Methods in Information Processing.

　　In recent years, the station has undertaken a large number of scientific research projects including the National Key Basic Research and Development Program (973 Program) and projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation. Our research on differential geometry, dynamical systems, functional analysis, representation theory and quantum group, coding and cryptography ranks among the top in the country and enjoys international influence.

　　Our team of researchers is balanced in structure. We have a team of high-caliber scholars who are active in pursuing academic goals, among which 14 are professors, 34 are associate professors, over 20 are masters’ supervisors and doctoral supervisors, 2 enjoy special allowances from the State Council, one is awarded as “New Century Excellent Talents in University” by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and one is supported by the “Excellent Young Teachers Programs” of MOE. We have built a sound system for talent development and have become an important base in the province for the development of mathematical talents both at undergraduate and graduate levels. Over the years, many master theses and doctoral dissertations have been awarded “Outstanding Thesis in Jiangsu Province”. Furthermore, the station enjoys abundant fund for research and offers big collection of books, which means the demands of postdoctoral researchers can be fully met.
