报告题目：The Method of Approximate Fundamental Solutions for the Well and Ill Posed Elliptic PDEs

报告简介：We use the method of approximate fundamental solutions for well and ill posed PDEs including biharmonic equations and Cauchy problems of elliptic operators. The method is applicable to a class of general differential operators for which their closed form fundamental solutions are unknown. A proper regularization technique is incorporated to obtain a stable solution for inverse problems.

报告人：Haiyan Tian, Ph.D., is a Professor of Mathematics at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM). Her research interests include nonlinear partial differential equations, applied analysis, computational mathematics, numerical analysis, and mathematical modeling. She has taught multiple mathematics subjects and advised student research for both undergraduate and graduate students. She chaired the Student Paper Competition for the annual LA-MS Sectional Meeting of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) during the years 2015-2022. At the same time, Dr. Tian is actively involved in math education. She received nine consecutive grants (2009-2017) from the U.S. Department of Education, through Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, for directing the USM Summer Math Institute.
