报告题目:An Immersed-Boundary Lattice Boltzmann Method-Based Tornado Model for Computational Analysis of Tornadic Wind Load

Abstract:Tornadoes featuring a combination of rotational and translational velocity components are disastrous atmospheric phenomena. This talk focuses on the computational analysis of tornadic wind loadings on a multi-building configuration subjected to incoming tornadoes at different angles of attack. The numerical procedure employs a powerful immersed-boundary lattice Boltzmann method, shortly known as IB-LBM framework. With the aid of the “relative motion” principle, the well-known Rankine Combined Vortex Model is re-tailored in this study by the superposition of a “pinned” rotational airflow and a “virtual” translation of the building, such that both the initial condition and the boundary condition can be generated in a computationally efficient manner for simulation of tornado-construction interaction. The immersed boundary approach is utilized to simulate the “virtually-moving” buildings, and the LBM is used to find the fluid properties. The tornado-induced forces and moment are investigated on the multi-building configuration to identify the orientation that leads to the minimum loading on the construction.
