计算流体力学    数学与工程紧密结合的一门交叉学科

讲座人结合自己的求学过程和职业发展,引计算流体力学这一学科为例,以浅显的方式讲解流体力学中偏微分控制方程的由来,并概述几个常用的解这些控制方程的数值方法。该讲座旨在用简单明了的实例表明,数学可与工程学科紧密结合,有效地促进工程学的发展。

Biography:

Dr. Jun Cao obtained his Ph.D. degree in Mathematics in 1995 from University of Paris VI, France. Prior to joining Ryerson University in 2000, his research work had included the a posteriori error estimate analysis and the development of adaptive numerical simulation tools for applications in the aerospace engineering (at Dassault Aviation, France, in 1990-1995, and at University of California, San Diego, in 1995-1996), the environmental engineering (at Stanford University in 1996-1998), and the fuel cell technology (at Simon Fraser University in 1999, and at University of Victoria in 1999-2000). Now, he is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Ryerson University. Also, as visiting professor, he paid sabbatical visits to the Department of Mathematics at Hong Kong Baptist University, the College of Mathematical Science at Peking University, the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing in the Chinese Academy of Sciences (in 2007-2008), the School of Aeronautics at the Northwestern Polytechnical University (in 2016), respectively. His ongoing research work mainly aims to develop novel numerical methods for the study of characteristics of complex flows and transport phenomena.
